Rupatadine fumarate, a novel antiallergic drug with a dual mechanism of action, was introduced in Spain as an oral treatment for perennial and seasonal rhinitis. Rupatadine acts as non-sedating histamine H1 receptor antagonist and plateletactivating factor (PAF) antagonist.
