In vitro studies have shown that it is an orally active endothelin ETA and ETB receptor antagonists can block endothelin-induced vasoconstriction in trachea and aorta. Developed by Swiss Actelion Pharmaceuticals Company and approved by FDA on October 18, 2013, it was first listed in the United States. It is mainly used for the treatment of pulmonary hypertension (PAH). Its trade name is Opsumit. Compared with other drugs for the treatment of PAH, marcetitan plays a role mainly by slowing down the disease progression and can significantly reduce the morbidity and mortality of patients with PAH.
