It is a kind of nucleotide analog, acting as the reverse-transcriptase inhibitor (NtRTI). It inhibits the activity of HIV reverse transcriptase through competing with the natural substrate deoxyadenosine 5’-triphosphate, causing the termination of DNA chain.
