2-Hydroxy-4-Methoxybenzophenone (Oxybenzone; Ultraviolet Absorber UV-9; Benzophenone-3) (CAS: 131-57-7) is a high-efficienct UV radiation absorbing agent, is a FDA approved UV filter and absorber, capable of effectively absorbing UV radiation of 290-400 nm wavelength, but it almost does not absorb visible light, particularly applicable to light-colored transparent products. It is well stable to light and heat, not decomposable below 200℃, applicable to paint and various plastic products, particular effective to polyvinyl chloirde, polystyrene, polyurethane, acrylic resin, light-colored transparent furniture, as well as to cosmetics, with the dosage of 0.1-0.5%. Oxybenzone is used as an ingredient in sunscreen and other cosmetics. Oxybenzone is used in plastics as an ultraviolet light absorber and stabilizer. It is used, along with otherbenzophenones, in sunscreens, hair sprays, and cosmetics because they help prevent potential damage from sunlight exposure. It is also found, in concentrations up to 1%, in nail polishes. Oxybenzone can also be used as a photostabilizer for synthetic resins. Benzophenones can leach from food packaging, and are widely used as photo-initiators used to start a chemical that dries ink faster. As a sunscreen, it provides broad-spectrum ultraviolet coverage, including UVB and short-wave UVA rays. As aphotoprotective agent, it has an absorption profile spanning from 270 to 350 nm with absorption peaks at 288 and 350 nm. It is one of the most widely used organic UVA filters in sunscreens today. It is also found in nail polish, fragrances, hairspray, and cosmetics as a photostabilizer. As the ultraviolet absorption agent, it is available to unsaturated polyester, polyethylene and PVC etc. The general consumption: 0.1-0.5% for thin matter, 0.05-0.2% for thick matter. It is A kind of broad-spectrum ultraviolet absorbent, with high absorption rate, non-toxic, no teratogenic effect, good stability to light and heat, it can absorb UV-A and UV-B at the same time. It is widely used in sunscreen cream, cream, honey, emulsion, oil and other sunscreen cosmetics, and can also be used as anti-discoloration agent of photosensitive and discoloration products. Used in plastic, chemical fiber, paint and petroleum products, especially for light and transparent products. Useage for Oxybenzone Used in plastic, chemical fiber, paint and petroleum products, especially suitable for light-colored transparent products Oxybenzone applications: It is widely used in sunscreen creams, creams, nectars, lotions, oils and other sunscreen cosmetics, and as an anti-discolouring agent for products that change colour due to photosensitivity.
