Sulfadiazine Sodium contains NLT 99.0% and NMT 100.5% of sulfadiazine sodium (C10H9N4NaO2S), calculated on the dried basis.

Sample: 1.5 g
Analysis: Dissolve the Sample in 25 mL of water, and add 3 mL of 6 N acetic acid. A white precipitate of sulfadiazine is formed. Collect
the precipitate on a lter, wash it well with cold water, and dry at 105℃ for 1 h.

Sulfadiazine Sodium is the sodium salt form of sulfadiazine, a short-acting sulfonamide antibiotic. It exhibits some antimalarial activity as well. Sulfadiazine Sodium is primarily used in combination with pyrimethamine to treat toxoplasmosis, a parasitic infection caused by the protozoan Toxoplasma gondii.
